San Miguel acquires CJ Perez in exchange for 3 players and 2 draft picks

The PBA officially approved CJ Perez’ trade to the San Miguel Beermen from Terrafirma Dyip on Tuesday, February 2.

The PBA also confirmed that the Beermen will send big man Russel Escoto, point guard Gelo Alolino and forward Matt Ganuelas-Rosser to the Dyip, and included two first round picks in the 2020 (46th Season) and 2022 (48th Season) PBA Draft.

After two seasons with Terrafirma, the 2019 Rookie of the Year will further bolster powerhouse squad San Miguel that won half of the last 16 PBA championships.

This may also pave the way for Perez to clinch his first PBA title as Terrafirma has not made it to the playoffs since 2016.

After getting drafted by Terrafirma as the No. 1 overall pick in 2018, Perez cracked into the First Mythical Team selection in his rookie season.

The former Lyceum star also earned a place in the Outstanding Five in the previous PBA season held in a bubble after averaging 24.4 points, 6.8 rebounds, 4.3 assists, and 2.0 steals.

The Dyip, on the other hand, will reunite with Escoto, whom they drafted in the special Gilas draft in 2016.

In the bubble season, Escoto averaged 2.3 points and 3.2 rebounds for the Beermen, while Alolino normed 2.7 points. Ganuelas-Rosser opted out of the bubble. – Rappler.com
