MANILA, Philippines – Rain or Shine is beginning to pick up steam in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup after earning its second straight victory with a 106-94 mauling of Terrafirma at the Araneta Coliseum on Sunday, October 2.

Coming off a surprising 22-point rout of Barangay Ginebra, the Elasto Painters coasted to another dominant win to deal the hapless Dyip their 19th straight defeat dating back to last season.

Import Steve Taylor Jr. set the tone in the triumph, scoring 13 of his 20 points in the first half before rookie guard Gian Mamuyac took charge in the final two quarters.

Mamuyac scattered all of his 17 points in the second half and added 5 rebounds as Rain or Shine led by as many as 18 points on the way to hiking its record to 2-1.

Taylor Jr. also finished with 24 rebounds, 3 blocks, 3 assists, and 2 steals, while Beau Belga and Andrei Caracut chimed in 12 points apiece and combined for 7 assists.

Santi Santillan contributed 8 points as Rey Nambatac, Norbert Torres, and Nick Demusis tallied 7 points each for the Elasto Painters.

Rain or Shine also thrived on defense as it limited Terrafirma import Lester Prosper to just 20 points after he averaged a staggering 42 points in their first two games.

Prosper, who grabbed 16 rebounds, shot 7-of-27 from the field in the loss that dropped the Dyip to 0-3 this conference.

Juami Tiongson fired 17 points and Alex Cabagnot delivered all-around numbers of 14 points, 9 assists, and 6 rebounds for Terrafirma.
