Barangay Ginebra ace Scottie Thompson becomes the first PBA player to sign with World Balance since PBA legend Philip Cezar

Fresh off signing a contract extension with Barangay Ginebra in March, Scottie Thompson has also recently inked a major deal with local sportswear brand World Balance as he is set to have his own signature model in the near future.

The five-time PBA champion Thompson became the first player to sign with the brand since Philip Cezar, with the do-it-all guard showcasing the World Balance basketball and performance line in the upcoming PBA season.

“Thompson caught our attention largely thanks to his court tenacity, rebounding prowess, and versatile play on both ends of the court as well as his challenger mindset of grit and hard work which makes him a natural fit for World Balance,” said CHG Global Inc president Barny Chong.

“We are thrilled to add him to our WB family and we can’t wait to collaborate with him in bringing an exclusive collection to the market.”

In an Instagram post on Tuesday, April 13, Thompson expressed his excitement for his upcoming signature shoe, the World Balance “ST1.”

“It was only just a dream. ST1 coming out soon,” wrote Thompson.

Thompson, who is now entering his sixth season with Ginebra, averaged 11.0 points, 8.8 rebounds, 5.8 assists, and 1.1 blocks in the 2020 PBA Philippine Cup.

He sank one of the biggest shots of his career in the do-or-die semifinals match against Meralco to send the Gin Kings to the finals, where they eventually dismantled TNT in 5 games to win their first All-Filipino championship in 13 years. –
