Joshua Munzon has made a solid case as the potential No. 1 pick in the upcoming PBA Draft following his stellar exploits in both 5-on-5 and 3x3 basketball

The name Joshua Munzon usually comes up when people talk about the No. 1 pick in the upcoming PBA Draft.

The 6-foot-4 guard, after all, has made a solid case as the potential top draftee of Terrafirma following his stellar exploits in different leagues outside the PBA and in the 3×3 circuit.

“Who is going to say no to being the No. 1 pick? At the same time, I feel like I’m ready enough,” Munzon told Rappler.

“I feel like my game is complete enough to go in and step and contribute and play a big role for that team.”

After finishing his collegiate career for the Cal State Golden Eagles in the US NCAA, Munzon played in the ASEAN Basketball League for the Saigon Heat and the Westport Malaysia Dragons.

The Filipino-American also suited up in the PBA D League, where he – as a member of the AMA Online Education Titans – put up staggering numbers of 35.0 points and 10.0 rebounds in the 2019 Aspirants’ Cup.

“All of my experience up to this point, I’ve grown every year as a basketball player and I’ve gotten better,” Munzon said. “My confidence along with my experience put me ahead some of the other guys.”

Munzon further established himself as a top draft prospect through the 3×3 circuit as he notched the No. 1 ranking in the country.

With his fine 3×3 play, Munzon earned a spot in the national team that will vie for a slot in the Tokyo Games in the FIBA 3×3 Olympic Qualifying Tournament in May.

“That is just a product of how hard I work when nobody was watching and how much I love playing the game and how much I want to get bet better,” Munzon said about being the No. 1 3×3 player in the country.

If Terrafirma pulls the trigger on picking Munzon, he is expected to fill the huge void left by CJ Perez, who got traded to San Miguel.

“I feel like along with my game getting stronger and my willingness to learn, potentially, I think I can be one of the best.” – Rappler.com
