Phoenix teammates Justin Chua and RJ Jazul will take the spotlight as awardees in the virtual PBA Press Corps Awards Night on March 7.

Chua will receive the Top Bubble D-Fender award, while Jazul will get feted as Mr Quality Minutes as they both impressed for Phoenix in the previous Philippine Cup held inside a bubble.

The 6-foot-6 Chua earned the nod from the men and women who regularly cover the PBA beat after leading the league with 1.6 blocks on top of his 11.7 points and 6.7 rebounds.

Chua banners the All-Bubble D-Fenders crew that includes his former Phoenix teammate Calvin Abueva, NorthPort star Christian Standhardinger, San Miguel ace Chris Ross, and Magnolia stalwart Mark Barroca.

Jazul, meanwhile, emerged as the winner for Mr Quality Minutes as he proved to be a major spark off the bench for Phoenix, which almost reached the PBA finals for the first time in franchise history.

Starting only once in 17 games, Jazul averaged 11.0 points, 2.3 rebounds, and 2.1 assists in 25 minutes per game.

Jazul had the finest game of his PBA career after erupting for a personal-best 33 points built on 9 triples in a 110-101 win over erstwhile defending champion San Miguel that clinched Phoenix a playoff berth.

Also to be recognized is CJ Perez as the Scoring Champion and the All-Rookie Team of Aaron Black, Arvin Tolentino, Roosevelt Adams, Barkley Eboña, and Renzo Subido.

The PBA Press Corps will honor awardees of the previous season as well, including San Miguel tactician Leo Austria (Coach of the Year), PBA chairman Ricky Vargas (Executive of the Year), and NorthPort standout Sean Anthony (Defensive Player of the Year). – Rappler.com
