Barangay Ginebra earns its third straight win and breaks its tie for the No. 1 spot with TNT

Barangay Ginebra San Miguel trounced the TNT Tropang Giga, 85-79, to sit on top of the team standings of the PBA Philippine Cup at the Angeles University Foundation in Pampanga on Friday, November 6.

Stanley Pringle shone anew, finishing with a huge double-double of 28 points and 12 rebounds for the Gin Kings, who won their third straight outing and improved to 7-2 in the standings.

Leading by only 5 points, 81-76, with a minute left to play, Pringle hit a tough lay-up against the outstretched arms of Poy Erram to make it a three-possession ball game, 83-76.

“Stanley’s our closer. He’s going to try to close the game. I think everybody knows it, the other teams know it,” said Barangay Ginebra coach Tim Cone of Pringle.

“But even if you know it, it’s still hard to stop him. Everybody knows it’s coming but it’s still hard to stop it,” he added.

Ray Parks Jr answered with a three-pointer on the other end to cut the Tropang Giga deficit to just 4 points, but time was clearly not on their side as Scottie Thompson iced the game for the Gin Kings with two free throws.

Japeth Aguilar also finished with a double-double of 19 points and 11 rebounds, while LA Tenorio added 15 points, 5 rebounds and 9 assists.

Jayson Castro had 19 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists, while Erram chipped in 17 points and 10 rebounds for the Tropang Giga, who lost their second straight game and moved down to 6-3 in the standings.
