Struggling Ginebra now in playoff mode, says Scottie Thompson

MANILA, Philippines – Barangay Ginebra still has 5 elimination round games to play in the PBA Commissioner's but the playoffs start in its next contest.

Scottie Thompson said the Gin Kings will be approaching their remaining games as if they are playoff battles as they seek to stay alive in the mid-season conference.

With a 1-5 record, Ginebra is in danger of heading into early vacation if its dry spell continues.

"Isipin lang namin na kaya. One game at a time. Next game, playoff game na 'yan. Todo na namin yan," Thompson said after he inked his contract as Gatorade ambassador at the Gatorade Hoops Center in Mandaluyong on Monday, June 4.

(We will just think that we can do it. One game at a time. The next game will be a playoff game and we will give it our all.)

The Gin Kings had a chance to bag their second win on Sunday, June 3, only to fall short in a 97-104 overtime loss to the San Miguel Beermen.

The multi-faceted guard, who had a near-triple-double of 13 points, 15 rebounds, and 7 assists in the defeat, said they cannot dwell on their slump.

"Sobrang sakit sa amin 'yung talo na 'yan," he said. "Para sa amin, keep moving forward na lang." (That loss really hurt us. For us, we just have to keep moving forward.)

Thompson joins the assortment of Gatorade ambassadors that include volleyball phenom Alyssa Valdez and collegiate basketball stars Thirdy Ravena and Ricci Rivero.
