Double rings: PBA champion Scottie Thompson announces engagement

Scottie Thompson just has a thing with rings recently.

A few weeks after copping his first PBA Philippine Cup title, the Ginebra do-it-all guard brought his winning ways into 2021 after announcing his engagement to longtime girlfriend Pau Fajardo on New Year’s Day.

Although known for his no-nonsense, gritty work on the floor, Thompson brought out his creative side for the engagement announcement, which involved lots of arranged candles, flower petals, and prerecorded messages from friends.

Fajardo was seen on a series of videos visibly crying through the messages before the man of the hour asked the million-dollar question.

“Love, let me be your protector, your knight in shining armor. Let me the father of your kids, and let me be your husband,” he said in the video, before kneeling down and proposing to Fajardo.

At that point, the answer was an obvious yes.

Thompson then thanked friends and family applauding around him before the final video ended with a zoomed-in shot of the engagement ring.

Multiple current and former PBA stars congratulated the 27-year-old guard and his new fiancee on social media, including teammate Joe Devance and Ginebra legend Jayjay Helterbrand. – Rappler.com
