A familiar figures returns for Barangay Ginebra in its title-retention bid in the PBA Philippine Cup.

Head coach Tim Cone revealed veteran big man Greg Slaughter has signed a new contract with the Gin Kings ahead of the upcoming PBA season.

“[G]reg is signed,” Cone wrote on Twitter as a reply to a fan asking updates about the team.

After guiding the franchise to its first All-Filipino crown in more than a decade, Cone immediately expressed his desire to have the seven-foot Slaughter back on board.

“I would love to have Greg back on the team,” Cone said in December as Ginebra dispatched TNT in 5 games in the Philippine Cup finals.

Slaughter has not seen action for the Gin Kings since the team won the 2019-2020 Governors’ Cup as he took a hiatus from the PBA following the expiration of his contract.

Eyeing a PBA comeback, Slaughter apologized to the Ginebra management for any “misunderstanding or bad feelings” that may have stemmed from his decision to step away from professional basketball.
