MANILA, Philippines – Rookie Chris Newsome flew high once again Saturday, October 1, for back-to-back ferocious dunks that ignited the Meralco Bolts supporters during game 3 of the 2016 PBA Governors' Cup semifinals.
Newsome's highlight-reel dunks came in the fourth quarter and in both instances he drove down the gut of the defense and took off from the restricted area for the brutal jams.
His first dunk effectively put import Mychal Ammons on a poster and in his second, he rose almost the entire height of Ranidel De Ocampo for the one-handed flush and the one-point lead.
The 26-year-old former Ateneo Blue Eagle joined this year's Slam Dunk contest during the All-Star Weekend, where he even paid tribute to Manny Pacquiao in one dunk.
He also prefaced another dunk by juggling 3 balls and in another attempt he completed a 360 jam. However he lost to teammate and 3-time champion Rey Guevarra.
