MANILA, Philippines - As the Philippines celebrates Independence Day on Friday, June 12, the athletes at the Southeast Asian Games have given Filipinos much to be proud of lately.
The Philippines has earned 93 medals in Singapore so far, including 22 golds for 7th place in the biennial event. The organizers of the SEA Games greeted the nation on its Independence Day with a list of things they love about the Philippines.
They also mentioned how the Philippines topped both the men's and women's triathlon and 100-meter run events, with Eric Cray and Kayla Richardson earning gold in the run, and Nikko Huelgas and Claire Adorna finishing tops in the triathlon event.
They even made mention of the "sensational "Splash Brothers" JD Pahoyo and John Fabriga, who earned plenty of media mileage from outlets around the world for their viral diving videos.
