MANILA, Philippines - Air Jordan (Clarkson) has touched down at Ninoy Aquino International Airport.
The 22-year-old Los Angeles Lakers guard arrived in the Philippines - the home country of his mother's family - on Thursday, May 21. The Fil-Am player will be joined by Trey Burke of the Utah Jazz and retired former All-Star Horace Grant, as well as the Oklahoma City City Thunder Girls dancing team and Charlotte Hornets mascot Hugo the Hornet for a series of promotional events for the National Basketball Association.
The NBA representatives will attend viewing parties of games two and three of the Western Conference finals between the Golden State Warriors and Houston Rockets on May 22 and 24 at NBA Cafe Manila at SM Aura in Bonifacio Global City, plus host an NBA Cares basketball clinic, teaching 60 underprivileged youth from Project Pearls the fundamentals of the game.
Clarkson, a native of San Antonio, Tex., was named to the All-Rookie team after logging 11.9 and 3.6 assists per game.
