Alex Eala has a chance to win it all.

The Filipina teen tennis sensation is in the finals of both the singles and doubles events of the junior grade A tournament in Milan, Italy, on Saturday, July 17.

Eala defeated Mirra Andreeva of Russia, 7-5, 6-3, in the semifinals of the girls singles event.

Seeded No. 1 in the tournament, the 16-year-old Filipina overcame a tight first set until she gained momentum after scoring the last two points to take the opening frame.

She will face the winner between Czech Republic’s Nikola Bartunkova and American Clervie Ngounoue in the singles final.

Eala and her American partner Madison Sieg also made the doubles final after a 6-3, 6-4, victory over the Russian pair of Kira Pavlova and Diana Shnaider.

Eala and Sieg, who are also seeded No. 1 in the doubles event, will take on Croatia’s Lucija Circi Bagaric and Belgium’s Sofia Costoulas later Saturday.

The Filipina tennis ace will aim to secure a chance of winning her second doubles title since the 2021 French Open juniors with Russian partner Oksana Selekhmeteva.

In the singles competition, Eala will look to win another title since her maiden pro triumph last January in the women’s $15,000 tournament in Manacor, Spain.

Eala fell short of another Grand Slam title bid in her Wimbledon debut after getting booted out in the second round of both the singles and doubles events. – Rappler.com
