PH hauls in another gold, bronze in Asian Para Games
MANILA, Philippines – Two days into the 2018 Asian Para Games and the Philippines has bagged a total of 6 medals, highlighted by a pair of golds.
Chi Kim Ian pocketed gold in the mixed singles tenpin bowling while Arthus Bucay notched bronze in the men's para cycling time trial on Monday, October 8, to bolster the country's bid of eclipsing its 10-medal haul in 2014.
Chi finished with an average score of 231.3 to rule the competition and relegated Korea's Hong Wonju (229.8) and Thailand's Phisitthanakul Raiwin (221.7) to silver and bronze, respectively.
Meanwhile, Bucay clocked in 28:46 minutes to settle for third behind China's Lai Shanzhang (27:36) and Indonesia's Saori Sufyan (28:39), who clinched gold and silver, respectively.
The Philippines now has two gold, two silver and two bronze medals for 10th place heading into Day 3.
China remains atop the standings with a 30-11-17 gold-silver-bronze medal haul while Korea (13-8-6) and Uzbekistan (12-5-2) trail at second and third place, respectively.
Earlier in the quadrennial showcase, Ernie Gawilan nabbed the country's first gold medal in the history of the Games after reigning supreme in the men's 200m individual medley. – Rappler.com
