LAGUNA, Philippines – Intense rallies and crucial match-ups unveiled before the eyes of a huge crowd who witnessed the last day of the volleyball elimination phase of Palarong Pambansa in Laguna.

Emotions filled the game venue as only the top two teams from each brackets will be able to keep their gold medal dreams alive.

For the secondary girls category, host team and last year’s third placer CALABARZON will miss this year’s quarterfinals as the team finished third in their bracket (2-2) after bowing down to West Visayas (4-0) in three sets. Joining West Visayas in the next round is Central Luzon. 

NCR and Zamboanga Peninsula finished 1 and 2 in Bracket B, respectively, in the secondary boys category due to a more superior quotient than Northern Mindanao, which also holds the same 2-1 record at the end of the eliminations. 

Moving to the elementary boys category, Western Visayas sweeps four other teams to top Bracket C. ARMM advances to the next round also by virtue of a more superior quotient over SOCCSKSARGEN and Cagayan Valley.

Last year’s silver medalist Central Visayas hopes to return to the gold medal battle as they took down all of their opponents in Bracket B of the Elementary Girls Category. Also advancing from their group is Zamboanga Peninsula which finished with two wins and a solitary loss.

After three days of single round robin in each of the brackets in all of the four categories, here are the pairings for the knockout quarterfinals starting at 9AM tomorrow, May 8, still at the Laguna Sports Complex, Sta. Cruz.
