Introduced as a demo sport, Davao del Norte proposes to make beach volleyball a regular fixture of Palarong Pambansa

TAGUM, CITY, Philippines – On Thursday, May 7, Beach Volleyball was introduced as a demo sport for the first time in the 58-year history of the Palarong Pambansa.

Davao del Norte assistant provincial administrator Sofonias Gabonada Jr said they intend to make it a regular sport in Palaro – the largest grassroots sporting event in the Philippines that aims to develop the potentials of the youth to become responsible and globally competitive citizens.

“We ask DepEd to include it [beach volleyball] as a demo sport, knowing that the Philippines is an archipelago composed of many islands,” said Gabonada.
