Former NCAA MVP Sudan Daniel died on Saturday, December 26, according to media reports.
As first reported by Tiebreaker Times, Daniel, 33, succumbed to an asthma attack.
Based on social media posts, Daniel celebrated the holidays with his former San Beda teammates Anthony and David Semerad before he died.
The American led the Red Lions to a rare 18-0 sweep and a championship in NCAA Season 86, where he also took home the MVP, Finals MVP, and Defensive of the Year honors.
"You always kept it real and would spread positivity, just what a genuine guy does. You will definitely be missed," wrote former San Beda teammate Rome dela Rosa, who now plays for Magnolia in the PBA, on Instagram.
"Fly high Superman," wrote NorthPort guard Garvo Lanete, also a former teammate, referring to the moniker Sudan earned during his NCAA days.
After wrapping up his NCAA career, Daniel stayed in the Philippines. – Rappler.com
