TNC Predator announces that Tims, Gabbi, Armel, Bok, and Boomy will become free agents

It is the end of an era for TNC Predator.

TNC on Monday, September 13, announced that it would part ways with its entire Dota 2 team months after the team missed out on a fifth straight The International appearance.

One of the top teams in the region, TNC said Timothy “Tims” Randrup, Kim “Gabbi” Villafuerte, Armel “Armel” Tabios, Jun “Bok” Kanehara, and Martin “Boomy” Rushton will become free agents starting September 15.

“The organization and its players have discussed in terms of individual growth and have come to an agreement that this would be the best decision moving forward,” TNC wrote in a statement.

“You will always be part of our TNC family wherever you may go.”

Tims is the longest-tenured TNC player among the five, joining the organization since 2016.

He won the MDL Chengdu Major in 2019 alongside Gabbi and Armel, who both signed with TNC in 2016, together with Korean Park “March” Tae-won and Australian Damien “kpii” Chok.

After March, kpii, and Kim “Febby” Yong-min left, TNC brought in Bok and Boomy in March to form an all-Filipino team for the second season of the Dota Pro Circuit: Southeast Asia Upper Division.

TNC, however, fell short of clinching a coveted berth in The International – the world championship of Dota 2 – after suffering a reverse sweep at the hands of Fnatic in the grand finals of the Southeast Asia Qualifier in July.

“It has been quite the journey these past three to four years, especially with Tims, Armel, and Gabbi,” TNC wrote.

“TNC has broken several barriers and overcome many obstacles during this period, and we are grateful to have had such talented players spearheading the growth of Philippine esports on a global scale.”

“As for Bok and Boomy, you were both essential to our TI run this year, the victories we picked up along the way could not have been done without you,” TNC added.

The five players are expected to join other teams soon. – Rappler.com
