MANILA, Philippines – Mark Dyke poured in 27 points to lead 4 other La Salle players in double-digits as the Green Archers crushed winless University of Asia and the Pacific by 96 points, 129-33, in the 2018 Milcu Sports Basketball presented by Got Skills Adidas Summer Showcase last Friday, May 18, at the Buddha Care Gym in Quezon City.
Dyke, who’s back with the team after trying his luck in FEU late last year, imposed his will right from the tip-off and fueled the Green Archers’ 31-10 charge in the opening period. He also wound up with 5 rebounds, 3 steals, and two assists.
The Taft-based team showed no mercy throughout and held the Dragons scoreless in the final frame while scoring 34 points.
In all, La Salle made good on 62 percent of its field goals even as it more than doubled the attempts of its opponent, 94-41.
Twin towers Ta’ane Samuel and Justine Baltazar collected 16 points each and combined for 9 rebounds and two blocks to help the Green Archers score their second straight win for a 2-2 record.
Meanwhile, National U put the first blemish on the once spotless slate of Arellano with a 72-66 decision last Thursday at the Trinity University of Asia Gym also in QC.
Versatile wing Jayson Puray and floor leader Chammi Diputado showed the way with 13 and 12 points, respectively, as the Bulldogs improved to 2-2.
The now 3-1 Chiefs were paced by Michael Canete who had 11 points and 8 rebounds.
In other results, Lyceum sailed away from UE in the 4th period for a 78-62 win. The two teams are now tied for 4th in the standings at 2-2
Also on even ground with the Pirates and the Red Warriors is FEU, which gored Manuel L. Quezon University for a 69-56 victory.
The Adidas Summer Showcase resumes on Tuesday at the Trinity University Gym with La Salle going for a 3rd win in a row against MLQU.
