Rhenz Abando posts likely farewell to UST, reportedly eyes transfer to Letran

It seems that another domino has fallen in UST's ongoing saga.

Growling Tigers rising star Rhenz Abando got social media buzzing after he posted thank you messages for his school across Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.

A source told Rappler Sports that the 22-year-old athletic freak is eyeing a jump to the reigning NCAA champion Letran Knights after his likely exit from España.

"'Di pa final kasi. Wala pang done deal (Nothing's final yet. There's still no done deal). Maybe a few more days," the source said.

The source also said that a Letran transfer is "80%" likely.

In what was Abando's first and possibly only season donning the UST gold, he averaged 11.7 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 1.3 blocks, with 13 of his 18 appearances coming off the bench.

Abando's social media posts came one day before the national government's coronavirus task force decides the fate of the Growling Tigers and their embattled head coach Aldin Ayo over well-documented allegations of "bubble" practices in Capuy, Sorsogon.

Former team captain CJ Cansino has already parted ways with UST, while longtime Ayo ward Brent Paraiso voluntarily left a week later.

Ayo has declined to comment on any of these issues due to the ongoing investigations. – Rappler.com
