MANILA, Philippines – For the first time in a decade, the La Salle Lady Spikers head into the UAAP Final Four with their backs against the wall.
And University of Santo Tomas aims to make the most out of the situation as the Golden Tigresses shoot for a title berth against the defending champions in their women’s volleyball semifinal showdown at 4 pm on Sunday, May 5, at the Mall of Asia Arena.
The Tigresses, the No. 2 seed toting a twice-to-beat advantage, hope to sustain their solid form behind skipper Sisi Rondina and rookie sensation Eya Laure.
A victory will propel UST to its first Finals stint in 8 seasons.
La Salle, of course, won’t just give up its crown easily.
Although heading to unfamiliar territory in the Final Four, the Lady Spikers still have a strong shot at forcing a decider with the veteran core of Des Cheng, Duke Ogunsaya and May Luna.
The Lady Spikers also boast of rookie standout Jolina Dela Cruz, who currently leads La Salle in spiking, serving and overall scoring.
Come game day, will the roars of #KamiNaman come to fruition for the Tigresses or will the Lady Spikers’ four-peat campaign live to see another day?
