Mbala dominates as DLSU wins Filoil title
MANILA, Philippines – Jiovanni Jalalon and the Arellano Chiefs gave the DLSU Green Archers their best shot, but Ben Mbala was too dominant.
The Cameroonian center posted 28 points, 26 rebounds, and 8 blocks to lead La Salle past AU, 86-74, for the 2016 Filoil preseason tournament title at the San Juan Arena on Sunday, June 12.
It was DLSU's second Filoil title in the last 3 years as the team finished the tourney with a perfect 10-0 record.
Arellano, who was up by double digits early and by two at the half, allowed DLSU to shoot 44% from the field while it was limited to 37% shooting.
Abu Tratter and Jeron Teng both played well too, posting 13 points each.
Jalalon led the Chiefs with 32 points, 6 boards and 5 dimes.
