P45,000 for Game 2 ticket? UAAP slams scalping, overpricing
MANILA, Philippines -- The UAAP denounced the alleged scalping and overpricing of tickets for Game 2 of the 76th UAAP men's basketball tournament finals.
In a statement sent to the media Friday, October 4, the country's most popular collegiate league also advised fans not to deal with scalpers while also explaining that 80% of the tickets have already been distributed to finals protagonists University of Santo Tomas and De La Salle University.
Meanwhile, the remaining 20% is with the Smart Araneta Coliseum, which are selling the tickets via Ticketnet.
UAAP fans raised a furor online after some who fell in line were not able to buy tickets for Saturday's pivotal game, with the official Ticketnet website saying that tickets for the match have been sold out already.
Araneta suspends employee
Facebook user Chrizeus Delton Batara posted an image on Thursday, showing an Araneta Coliseum employee talking to an alleged scalper, who Batara said tried to sell them tickets for P2,500.00 each.
In a statement posted on its official Facebook page, the Smart Araneta Coliseum said it has placed the involved employee under preventive suspension while the incident is being investigated.
"Scalping is a crime in Quezon City and we fully support the drive against it," the Big Dome posted.
The Smart Araneta Coliseum added that it is working closely with the Philippine National Police to go after the scalpers.
P45,000 for ticket?
An ad on popular online classified ads website Sulit shows Patron section tickets being sold for as much as P45, 000.00. Ticketnet sells Patron section tickets for only P350.00.
A General Admission ticket costs P4, 000.00 while Lower Box and Upper Box A tickets are being peddled at P25, 000.00 and P12, 000.00, respectively.
