CESAFI: UV Green Lancers, USC Warriors advance to semis
CEBU CITY, Philippines - The University of the Visayas (UV) Green Lancers and the University of San Carlos (USC) Warriors advanced to the semifinal round by defeating their respective opponents in the quarterfinals, Tuesday, October 4, at the New Cebu Coliseum, located in downtown this city.
First to grab a semifinals ticket was the UV Green Lancers with a blowout win over the University of Southern Philippines Foundation (USP-F) Panthers, 98-73, in the first game.
The USC Warriors, for their part, had to work harder for its semifinals slot after managing only a 2-point advantage against the University of Cebu (UC) Webmasters, 68-66.
Tristan Ray Albina topscored for UV with 18 points while Kevin Oleodo and Scotti Ntumba led the USC with 14 points each.
However, it was Victor Emmanuel Rabat who was hailed as the Best Player of the Game after his 3 treys in the last 3 minutes of the ballgame gave them a huge advantage for the win.
UV and USC will join the Southwestern University-Phinma who swept their elimination games in the semifinal round.
The last semifinal slot will be contested by the University of San Jose Recoletos (USJ-R) Jaguars and the Cebu Institute of Technology (CIT-U) Wildcats this Thursday, October 6 at 5 pm. – Rappler.com
