UC teams dominate foes for 2-0 game day in CESAFI basketball
The UC Webmasters, who had another double-double performance from their Cameroonian import Frederick Ngoh Elombi, slaughters the CITU Wildcats

CEBU CITY, Philippines – The University of Cebu (UC) scored a twin kill to keep their opponents winless in the high school and collegiate CESAFI divisions.

The UC Webmasters, who had another double-double performance from their Cameroonian import Frederick Ngoh Elombi, thoroughly dominated the Cebu Institute of Technology University (CITU) Wildcats, 75-57 on Tuesday, August 29, at the New Cebu Coliseum, while the UC Junior Webmasters demolished the University of Southern Philippines Foundation (USPF) Baby Panthers, 91-78, in the earlier game.

Elombi topscored for the Webmasters with 26 points and continued his dominance under the goal with 15 rebounds. Also making an impact for the Webmasters were Jayvee Dela Cruz who chipped in 13 markers and Joren Tagudin who added 10 points.

Mark Christian Kong had 20 points for the Wildcats while Jemcerson Sable added 11 points.

The Junior Webmasters were towed by Virlou Orquez with his 22 markers while also contributing were Justin Mondares with 16 points, plus Miguelito Jusay and Mark Justine Nebril who each had 10 points.

The Baby Panthers had 24 points from Christopher Erick Isabelo, 17 points from Winston Jay Ynot and 10 points from Jaffer Hernando.

While the Webmasters and the Junior Webmasters cruised to their third wins in as many as 5 games, the Wildcats have yet to post a win in 6 games and the Baby Panthers also have no victory to their name in 5 games.

Both winning teams followed a different path enroute to winning their respective games. While the Webmasters had a walk in the park, the Junior Webmasters had to rely on a third quarter rally to wrest the lead and eventually the victory.

From erecting a 15-point lead going into the final canto, 71-56, the Junior Webmasters never looked back and widened the gap to as much as 22 points, 82-60, with back-to-back triples from Kyle Niño Ochavo and Jusay.

The Baby Panthers tried to rally mostly on Ynot’s efforts but managed to only stave off 9 points from the Junior Webmasters’ lead at the end of the ballgame.

The Webmasters, on the other hand, was never threatened nor challenged from start to end of the ballgame posting their biggest lead at 23 points on a triple from Dela Cruz, 56-33, just a few minutes before the end of the third quarter.

Kong and Sable tried to spark a rally for their team but to no avail as they still went down as much as 18 points.
