MANILA, Philippines – As expected, a star-studded Seaoil Team Extreme dominated their Team Mako counterparts with a lopsided 123-94 win in the 3rd Seaoil NBTC High School All Star Game on Sunday, March 9 at the Ynares Sports Arena.

At a big advantage on paper, Seaoil Team Extreme went unthreatened and pounded Seaoil Team Mako all throughout in an all star affair which pitted 30 of the best high school cagers in the country.

Reigning UAAP juniors MVP Thirdy Ravena stole the spotlight in the third period, flashing his brilliance with sweet moves and superior passing skills as Team Extreme broke away building huge 20-point margins. Ravena finished with 11 points and was named All Star Game MVP.

University of the Philippines’ Diego Dario topscored for the Extreme wirth 18 points, pouring 16 in the payoff period with the storyline already settled.

The Extreme recovered from a flat start behind speedy point guard Enzo Subido of De La Salle Zobel and fastbreak buckets from Richard Escoto of Far Eastern University. They held a 33-22 bubble as the first quarter buzzer sounded.

Their blitz continued early in the second period with the help of Sacred Heart’s Arnie Padilla and National University’s Gino Mosqueda doing most of the damage to build their biggest lead of the first half at 45-26.

Team Mako however, refused to get pounded early, and banked on Chiang Kai Shek MVP Mohammed Salim and National U’s Lorenzo Battad to trim the deficit to just 11, 40-51. However, Padilla continued rolling towards the break to give Extreme a 61-45 halftime lead.

Reigning UAAP juniors MVP Thirdy Ravena then owned the third period, flashing his overall skill set all period long, distributing the leather and scoring on a variety of shots. A one-handed alley-oop from Subido made it a commanding 77-57 lead while San Beda’s Adven Diputado provided more baskets as the third quarter whistle expired, 87-67 for Team Extreme.

Team Mako were never able to assert their presence until the final buzzer as they got blown out.
