(UPDATED) The FEU Lady Tamaraws are now in solo fourth in the UAAP women's volleyball tournament standings

MANILA, Philippines (UPDATED) – Far Eastern University bounced back from a 5-set loss against De La Salle University last Saturday and disposed the University of the East Lady Warriors, 25-13, 25-18, 25-21, on Wednesday, March 9, in the UAAP women’s volleyball tournament at the Mall of Asia Arena.

FEU climbed to solo fourth with a 5-4 win-loss record, while UE remains at the bottom of the standings.

Bernadeth Pons scattered 19 points coming off 18 attacks and an ace for FEU. Toni Rose Basas and Jerrili Malabanan also added 9 and 8 markers apiece.

FEU made quick work of UE and cruised from start to finish, ending the first set with a 12-point advantage, 25-13.

The Lady Warriors tried to retaliate in the second canto, trailing the Lady Warriors and making it as close as 15-13. But the girls of Coach Shaq Delos Santos sustained their charge and sealed the set, 25-18.

UE completely collapsed in the last frame, 25-21.

‘Yung tiwala naman namin sa mga bata andoon naman,” said Delos Santos of his squad.

(We trust in the girls.)

He added that the coaching team gave the players the chance to talk to each other and strategize among themselves during timeouts.

FEU’s next step now is to prepare for their next game against Ateneo.

Bibigay naman namin lahat ng kaya,” Delos Santos said.

(We will give all that we can.)

Shaya Adorador was the lone bright spot for the Lady Warriors with 11 points. – Rappler.com
