La Salle beats Ateneo to end 13-year baseball title drought
MANILA, Philippines – De La Salle University brought a 13-year title drought to an end after defeating rivals Ateneo de Manila University, 11-9, in a 5-hour game to sweep the UAAP Season 78 baseball tournament finals series on Monday, March 14.
The Green Archers captured their first baseball championship since 2003 after surviving the Blue Eagles' last-gasp attempt to score in the 9th inning.
Ateneo lost the championship after a 3-year reign.
La Salle defeated Ateneo in Game 1, 8-3. Rookie Diego Lozano was named Finals MVP.
