MANILA, Philippines- Coming from a stinging loss in their previous assignment, National University vented its ire on Arellano University via a straight-sets victory, 25-9, 25-14, 25-18 at the start of the quarterfinals of the Shakey’s V-League Season 11 First Conference on Thursday, May 1 at the Filoil Flying V Arena in San Juan City.

Dindin and Jaja Santiago came up big for the Lady Bulldogs, each producing 12 points, with both spikers scoring 9 from attacks while Mina Aganon provided ample help with 10 hits.

The Gold and White of Sampaloc recovered from its first loss of the conference against the Davao Lady Agilas the last time around, this time pouncing no mercy on the Lady Chiefs right from the get-go.

The Lady Bulldogs took the first two sets with relative ease behind the vaunted troika of the Santiago sisters and Aganon who used their huge height advantage to toy with Arellano’s porous floor defense.

The Lady Chiefs showed some life in the third frame as they came to within four points, 9-13 on Jaja Santiago’s service error.

But NU kept Arellano at bay for the rest of the match as power-hitting Myla Pablo shoved the Lady Bulldogs into match point, 24-18 before an attacking error by the Lady Chiefs sealed NU’s victory. Pablo had 9 markers in the match.

Jen Reyes, NU’s veteran libero played in the match and had 7 excellent digs.

Menchie Tubiera paced Arellano with 5 points while former Lady Bulldog CJ Rosario added 4 markers.
