Sauler optimistic for what Caracut, Go bring to Green Archers
Caracut led San Beda to their sixth Jr. NCAA basketball championship, while the hot-shooting Go has garnered comparisons to Jeff Chan and Allan Caidic

MANILA, Philippines – The De La Salle Green Archers attained valuable pieces for their future with commitments from two coveted stars of this year’s high school graduating class: Andrei Carracut from San Beda, and Jollo Go from Hope Christian High School.

In the aftermath of Sunday’s, February 8, charity game between former Green Archer players and the team’s current stars, which was labelled as “Then vs. Now,” DLSU head coach Juno Sauler talked to the media about both incoming freshmen.

“Of course, [I’m] excited,” Sauler first said about Caracut, 5-foot-10, who averaged 14.7 PPG, 5.4 RPG, and 3.7 APG in the eliminations of his senior season with the Red Cubs.

“We’ve seen what he can do, what he’s done with San Beda during his high school years. So hopefully he can still improve more with La Salle and [I’m] excited to have him here.”

Caracut finished his high school career with San Beda by leading them to their sixth straight Jr. NCAA basketball championship. He was named the Finals MVP after putting up 30 points and grabbing 9 rebounds in the game three overtime clincher against Mapua.

He announced his commitment to La Salle late on Friday evening, February 7, in an Instagram post where he stood side by side with chief DLSU patron Eduardo Cojuango Jr.

“He’s not just really offense, but he’s more of an all-around player. I also like the way the way he [plays] defense. His basketball IQ [and] knowledge of the game are what impress me the most,” said Sauler, who in his two years as La Salle’s head coach has led them to a UAAP championship and Final Four appearance.

The addition of Carcaut should help give Green Archers star Jeron Teng (fourth year) another running mate, seeing as the San Beda product’s offense is multi-dimensional.

But La Salle, who’s coming off a heartbreaking semis loss to the FEU Tamaraws from last season, has to also make up for the absence of Almond Vosotros, who played his final year of eligibility in 2014.

That’s where Go comes in.

“What I like also about Jollo is the same with Andrei – he plays with a lot of intensity on the defensive end, so aside from what he can bring offensively, which is his shooting, he can help us also with the way he plays defense,” said Sauler.

Go, also 17-years-old, made a name for himself with his shooting stroke in high school, even garnering comparisons to other talented left-handed shooters in the PBA such as Jeff Chan and Allan Caidic, who will be his assistant coach in La Salle.

The 5-foot-10 guard also played for Batang Gilas in the 2014 FIBA Under-17 World Championship in Dubai, where he put up 12.4 PPG and scored 27 points in a game against Argentina.

Like Caracut, Go also announced his commitment to La Salle by posting an image with Cojuango on Instagram.
