NU’s Aroga doing fine, expected to play vs Ateneo

MANILA, Philippines – National University (NU) Bulldogs big man Alfred Aroga is doing well a day after suffering an ankle injury against the UE Red Warriors and is expected to both suit up and play against the Ateneo Blue Eagles on Sunday.

Aroga, NU’s third-year big man, sprained his ankle after landing awkwardly following a lay-up which put his Bulldogs ahead 69-66 with 1:21 remaining against UE on Wednesday, September 7. 

The former UAAP Finals MVP was named the best player of the game with 16 points on 6-of-10 shooting, 13 rebounds, and 4 blocks after leading National U past the Red Warriors, 72-66, in its season opener.

According to the Bulldogs’ coaching staff, Aroga is doing fine and the injury is “nothing serious.” The 6-foot-6 center is also not experiencing any swelling on the injured ankle.

Ateneo will also enter the game on Sunday with a 1-0 record following its win over the UST Growling Tigers last weekend.

Last season, the Blue Eagles swept the season series against the Bulldogs. – Rappler.com
