MANILA, Philippines – UAAP Season 80 MVP Jaja Santiago will take her talents to the land of the rising sun, but remains mum on which team as she waits for the official announcement from a division one team in the Japan Premier League.

During the recent Philippine Superliga’s battle for 3rd, Santiago mentioned that on top of the two teams she was in talks with, she was recommended to Japanese clubs by University of the Philippines head coach Godfrey Okumu and former F2 logisitcs consultant in the 2016 FIVB Volleyball Women’s World Cup Championships Shun Takahashi. 

“Actually sa Japan kasi may dalawang team and kung hindi man siguro ako matuloy (sa Japan), meron din si coach Okumu, may gusto sila sa akin i-recommend na team and si coach Shun [Takahashi] is inviting me doon sa Japan din so tingin ko marami akong opportunity and magandang start kung sa Japan ako maga-ano,” said Santiago. 

(Actually in Japan, there are two teams. And if I don’t end up with those teams, coach Okumu also recommended me to another team and coach Shun Takahashi [invited me] to Japan, so I think I’ll have a lot of opportunities and it will be a good start if I get a chance.)
