MANILA, Philippines – 24 teams, three days, one champion.

The 2014 Nestea Beach volleyball competition kicks off on Thursday, May 1 at the beautiful beaches of Boracay and runs until Saturday, May 3, featuring 24 teams from all over the archipelago.

Dubbed as “Battle of Champions,” the exciting centerpiece of Nestea Beach’s long line of activities will sizzle as the 24 squads slug it out for pride and the right to be named the country’s top squad.

“Beach volleyball is the crown jewel of Nestea Beach and we want to give the players a chance to represent the national team,” said Nestea Consumer Marketing Manager JP Legisma.

The tournament will not only serve as the annual Nestea Beach spectacle’s main event but is also a platform for those who are aspiring to be a part of the national beach volleyball squad.

Coach Otie Camangian, commissioner of the Philippine Volleyball Federation (PVT) for beach volleyball, says the three-day joust will feature champion squads from different inter-school tournaments across the nation.

“For this year, we will have the best collegiate teams from UAAP, NCAA, CESAFI, NCAA-South, Bacolod, the Unigames, the Governor’s Cup in Mindanao,” he told members of the press.

He added the PVF will look for talents in the competition.

“We are looking forward to get players for the national beach volleyball pool. We have the Asian beach games so we want to look for talents here.”
