F2 Logistics becomes the last team to leave the Philippine Superliga

The Philippine Superliga (PSL) powerhouse squad has finally made its move to the Premier Volleyball League (PVL).

F2 Logistics officially announced its decision on its social media pages on Thursday, March 11 and became the last team from the rival league to turn professional.

“It is with grateful hearts that we thank Philippine Superliga (PSL) for being our home for the past 5 years. Our team was created in this league way back in 2016,” read the statement.

“To our supporters who we definitely consider as part of the team, thank you for rallying with us and we feel blessed to have you by our side.

“We would not be here without you. It is also because of you that we announce that Premier Volleyball League (PVL) will be the arena that we will continuously hone our skills and characters.”

The PSL is now left with no teams since its inception in 2013, as Sta. Lucia and Chery Tiggo announced that they will turn professional as well.

The Cargo Movers, who are mentored by multi-titled head coach Ramil de Jesus, leave their PSL legacy with 5 titles since the team was created in 2016.

The team is bannered by La Salle stars and national team mainstays Kim Fajardo, Dawn Macandili, Majoy Baron, and captain Aby MaraΓ±o.

Together with Fil-Hawaiian spiker Kalei Mau, F2 looks to contest with three-time PVL champions Creamline Cool Smashers.

F2’s participation in the PVL pushes the total number of teams to 12 with Choco Mucho, Petro Gazz, Banko-Perlas, BaliPure/Chef’s Classics, Cignal, PLDT, Philippine Army, and Unlimited Athletes Club rounding out the roster in the league that is set to open in a bubble on May 8.

Initially targeting to open the season with only 7 teams, the PVL has now decided to move the April 10 start date to May in order to accommodate the needs of the additional teams.

Last February 4, the PVL struck a three-year broadcast deal with Cignal TV after being aired on ABS-CBN Sports since 2018. β€“ Rappler.com
