Marck Espejo hopes to turn losses in Bahrain into lessons

After 3 consecutive losses in his Bahrain Volleyball League stint with Bani Jamra, Marck Espejo hopes to turn disappointments into lessons.

“Siyempre, every talo nakaka-down and nakaka-disappoint pero given naman ‘yun. May nananalo, may natututo,” Espejo told Rappler.

(Of course, every loss is making us feel down and disappointed but that is a given. There’s a team that wins and there’s a team that learns.)

“I hope na maging lesson na lang ang lahat ng talo namin para maging better athlete, and hopefully, everything else will follow,” he added.

(I hope that we take our losses as lessons for us to be better athletes, and hopefully, everything else will follow.)

The Philippine volleyball star quickly established himself as the main man of Bani Jamra and he wanted to help the team achieve its goal of becoming more competitive.

“This season, ang goal muna namin ay maipakita sa top teams na competitive na ang team na ‘to than before and hopefully manalo kami at matuto.”

(This season, our goal is to show the top teams that this team is more competitive than before and hopefully we win and learn.)

“One game at a time lang talaga muna kasi alam naman natin na bottom team kami. It doesn’t matter once na makapasok na sa court, we will do our best and what is necessary para sa team,” Espejo said.

(We just have to really take it one game at a time because we all know that we are the bottom team. It doesn’t matter once we enter the court, we will do our best and what is necessary for the team.)

Espejo, who first suited up for Japan and Thailand, said players in Bahrain have a different physique and style of play.

“Dito, mas mature ‘yung katawan nila kaya most of them bulky talaga. Compared sa Japan and Thailand na nalaruan ko before, dito talaga mas advantage ang height and power,” Espejo said.
