MANILA, Philippines – The Philippines’ men’s national volleyball team suffered their first loss in the 28th Southeast Asian Games after falling to Myanmar in 3 sets, 25-16, 25-14, 33-31, on Thursday, June 11, at the OCBC Arena in Singapore.
Marck Espejo was the lone double-digit scorer with 14 points for the Philippines, who gave away 28 points to Myanmar due to errors. John Vic De Guzman pitched in with 9 markers, while Peter Torres registered 6 points
The Philippines was out-blocked by Myanmar, 8-3, and scored 5 less points on spikes, 43-38. The team did have more excellent sets, 34-27.
Aung Thu led Myanmar with 27 points - 24 on spikes.
The Philippines will be back in action on Sunday, June 14, when they go up against Thailand.
