The Filipina pair then went up against Asia No. 2 pair of Varaptsorn Radarong and Tanarattha Udomchavee, managing to put up a gallant stand before succumbing to a 21-16, 24-22 defeat. 

On the men’s side, Jude Garcia and Anthony Arbasto were swept by Australia’s Christopher McHugh and Paul Burnett, 21-14, 21-13.

The country’s second tandem on the men’s side composed of AJ Pareja and Henry Pecana managed to drag the game to a decider, but fell short against the Iranians, Abolihamed Mirzaali and Alireza Aghajani, 19-21, 21-17, and 15-8.
