FEU cruises to straight set 1st win over UB

MANILA, Philippines – Toni Rose Basas topscored with 12 points and the Far Eastern University Lady Tamaraws swept University of Batangas, 25-20, 25-18, 25-10, for their first win in Group A action of the Shakey's V-League Season 12 Collegiate Conference on Saturday, July 11.

Basas was particularly effective from the service deck with 6 aces as Mary Joy Palma finished with 9 points, including two blocks. Reinforcement Honey Royce Tubino and Heather Guino-o added 8 points apiece with all of Guino-o's points coming off attacks.

Bernadeth Pons added 6 markers as the Lady Tamaraws opened the conference strong and warded off the Batangas squad, finishing them off in a short 19-minute third set at the FilOil Flying V Arena in San Juan.

No one from the University of Batangas reached double digits, with Cyren Montecer with the most points at 8, built on 6 spikes and a couple of service aces.

Lalyn Garcia connected on 6 of her 19 kill attempts for her scoring contribution, while Krissa Madalogdog added 4 points.
