MANILA, Philippines – Ennajie Laure tallied in 18 points and Marivic Meneses finished with 15 as they spearheaded the University of Santo Tomas Golden Tigresses over San Sebastian College, 25-16, 20-25, 25-14, 25-20, in the Shakey’s V-League Season 11 First Conference, Sunday night, April 13, at the Filoil Flying-V Arena in San Juan City.

UST put on a stellar performance against the Lady Stags as 9 Tigresses made it to the scoresheet to claim their second win in the tournament after 3 games.

Both sides got off to a hot start as UST and SSC exchanged attacks but the Tigresses were able to pull away behind the efforts of Pam Lastimosa and Laure to take the opening set, 25-16.

The Lady Stags, however, refused to give up just yet as Czarina Berbano led SSC’s gallant second set stand to even the sets at one apiece.

San Sebastian’s celebration was shortlived, though, as Meneses put the Tigresses one set up anew, leading UST in the third to keep the Lady Stags at bay.

Laure then sent SSC home in the fourth, finding the space through the Lady Stags defense to take the fourth set, 25-20, and notch the win.

Berbano led SSC’s losing cause with 13 points while Gretchel Soltones added 9 markers of her own.

Backing Laure and Meneses, meanwhile, are Lastimosa and Rhea Dimaculangan who combined for 19 points.

UST will take on the Davao Agilas next on April 27. San Sebastian also faces Davao on April 29.

Scores:

Santo Tomas – Laure 18, Meneses 15, Lastimosa 11, Dimaculangan 8, Cortez 6, Palec 3, De Leon 2, Tunay 2, Lantin 1.

San Sebastian – Berbano 13, Soltones 9, Uy 8, Mallare 5, Devanadera 4, Lim 3, Labiano 2.

Set scores: 25-16, 20-25, 25-14, 25-20
