Phelps partners with Aqua Sphere for line of swimming equipment

MANILA, Philippines – Michael Phelps, a world-renowned swimmer and the most decorated Olympian of all time, is teaming up with premier swimming equipment manufacturer Aqua Sphere for a line of swimming gear that are “inclusive and accessible to a broader range of swimmers and non-swimmers across the full swimming lifecycle.”

Phelps’ Hall of Fame Coach Bob Bowman is also included in the partnership.

“Ever since I really started swimming, a goal of mine was to change and grow the sport of swimming,” said Phelps, 29. “Whether it’s in the pool or out of the pool, in the US, worldwide, this was the coolest opportunity that I’ve ever had to be able to do that.”

Phelps and Bowman are set to help develop a “diverse collection of swim products and accessories designed for every level of swimmer with a focus on comfort and performance.”

“To be able to have more of a hands on type of thing with the products, I think it’s just something that I always dreamed of,” Phelps added.

The American swimmer has made a major splash in the sport since he started swimming at the age of 7. His rise to the top culminated in the 2012 London Olympics where he took home 4 gold medals and two silver medals, ultimately cementing his legacy as the most decorated Olympian ever with 22 medals. – Rappler.com
