No third straight Japan LPGA Tour title for Yuka Saso

Yuka Saso struggled in her quest for a third straight Japan LPGA Tour as she finished tied for 29th place in the Golf 5 Ladies Pro Tournament in Mizunami on Sunday, September 6.

The Filipina-Japanese could not weave the same magic that won her the NEC Karuizawa 72 Golf Tournament and the Nitori Ladies Golf Tournament after firing a four-under par 212 in the three-day tilt.

Saso had her best showing in the final round, where she wound up with a two-under par 70 after tallying 3 birdies and 6 pars in the back nine.

Sakura Koiwai, who Saso edged for the Nitori Ladies championship, emerged victorious this time with a 17-under par 199 as she carded a six-under par 66 in the final round.

Koiwai raked in the lion's share of the Y60,000,000 prize pool of Y10,800,000.

Meanwhile, Saso won around P180,000 (Y408,000) to raise her earnings to more than P27,000,000 (Y59,448,000).

The 19-year-old Saso will play next in the Japan Women's Professional Golf Championship, which will take place in Okayama from September 10 to 13. –
