Yuka Saso notches highest world ranking yet at No. 6

Filipina golf sensation Yuka Saso hit another career milestone as she reached her highest world ranking yet at No. 6 on Wednesday, September 1.

Saso jumped three places higher and tallied a total of 203.20 behind world No. 5 Lydia Ko of New Zealand.

American star and Tokyo Olympics gold medalist Nelly Korda continues to hold the top spot with a total of 485.31.

South Koreans Jin Young Ko (No. 2), Inbee Park (No.3), and Sei Young Kim (No. 4) follow behind.

Saso recorded her career-high ranking after finishing joint 39th in LPGA major 2021 AIG Women's Open at the at the Carnoustie Championship Course in Scotland held last August 19 to 22.

The 20-year-old golfer was in title contention in the first half of the AIG tournament as she stayed inside the top 10, but fell out of the running in the second half.

Saso, the first Filipino to win a golf major tournament in the 2021 US Women's Open, was riding on her joint ninth finish in the Tokyo Olympics. – Rappler.com
