Vertical videos on YouTube get more screen space with a tweak on YouTube's latest iteration

MANILA, Philippines (UPDATED) – A new feature on YouTube for Android and iOS devices is set to make tiny vertical videos a thing of the past.

Android Police reported Tuesday, July 21, that YouTube 10.28 would allow vertical videos to show up in full screen when displayed on a device held vertically rather than horizontally.

What used to happen previously was that vertical videos would display in landscape mode regardless of the orientation of the phone. The change makes it such that vertical videos get far more screen space on a user’s phone.

You’ll have to wait for YouTube to update its version from the previous iteration, YouTube 10.25, but once that’s done, you can finally enjoy one less hassle in your day-to-day mobile viewing experience.

As of July 24, YouTube version 10.28 is also on the App Store, making full-screen vertical videos available for both Android and iOS devices.  Rappler.com
