MANILA, Philippines – While Apple’s iOS 10 update won’t be officially out till autumn of 2016, one of iOS 10’s features is making a splash with the data-conscious user base: the ability to delete iOS’ built-in applications.
Specifically, 23 different built-in applications in iOS 10 beta are now removable from the home screen. These are the following: Calculator, Calendar, Compass, Contacts, FaceTime, Find My Friends, Home, iBooks, iCloud Drive, iTunes Store, Mail, Maps, Music, News, Notes, Podcasts, Reminders , Stocks, Tips, Videos, Voice Memos, Watch app, and Weather.
Apple says that all these apps don’t actually amount to a ton of space – they’re less than 150 megabytes in size combined – but for those who don’t actually use particular apps, the extra space might still be worth it.
The company warns, however, that removing some apps “can affect things like related system functions or information on your Apple Watch,” so you should check the page linked above to see what effects losing one app for a bit of extra space might do to your daily routine.
The apps can easily be restored, however, by going to the App Store and redownloading them for use. – Rappler.com
