MANILA, Philippines – In its continuing efforts to share news and stories through innovative means, Rappler takes another step forward and now has an official account on popular messaging mobile application LINE.
In partnership with LINE Philippines, Rappler can now send updates and links to latest news stories, and other media content to Filipinos who use the LINE app on their smartphones.
LINE made a formal Philippine launch in February. It has since gained a huge following in the country with 1.7 million followers on its official account on the app. Its user-friendly interface, quirky stickers, as well as complementary applications and games make the instant messaging application well-loved by mobile users.
Following the onslaught of Typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan), LINE has launched a ‘Pray for the Philippines’ special sticker set made available to its users worldwide for a minimal cost and to Filipino users for free. Proceeds will go to relief efforts of the Philippine Red Cross for Haiyan victims.
