MANILA, Philippines — The rumors were true: The red version of Google’s Nexus 5 is real, and it’s on sale now.

Tech followers first caught wind of the Ferrari-red Nexus 5 after a series of images were leaked on Twitter last week. On Wednesday, February 5, Google confirmed the rumor by adding a “Bright Red” model to its Play Store alongside the original monochrome editions.

Available at the same price as the classic black and white versions, the Bright Red Nexus 5 comes with either 16GB ($350) or 32GB ($400) of internal memory. It also runs on the latest version of Android v4.4 KitKat.

Aside from the change in color, the device is exactly the same phone. 

The LG-made smartphone sports a 4.95-inch Full HD display with a pixel density of 445 ppi and is powered by a 2.26GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor, 2GB of RAM and a 2300 mAh battery. The phone also comes with an 8 megapixel main camera with optical image stabilization.

The Bright Red Nexus 5 version is currently avaialable via the Google Play Store in Australia, Canada, United States, United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Hong Kong, India, Japan, and Korea and ships with a 1-2 day dispatch time. 

The device is not officially available in the Philippines. Black and white Nexus 5 units are available from Smart for P22,500 contract free. – Rappler.com
