Dominic Co won Microsoft’s YouthSpark Challenge for Change contest for his project, a site called “Libro Ko” which hopes to become an online resource and forum for students to discuss and better understand various Filipino literary works.

Co also plans to develop an online curriculum to supplement the teaching of Philippine literature.
”Filipino works, such as Noli Me Tangere and El Filibusterismo, have lost some of their relevance especially to the young people who readthem more than a hundred years later. The internet, along with the latest Microsoft technologies, could provide a channel for the youth to rediscover these works,” Co explained.
“Libroko.com could serve as a platform for students all over the country to appreciate, discuss and share their opinions on famous literary works to help them foster a sense of national identity and appreciation for literature,” he added.
Co, along with the 4 other winners from India, Mexico, and the United States will embark on a volunteer trip to the Amazon to learn about social entrepreneurship, leadership, conservation and rural development issues in the Amazon rainforest.
To support these winning change-makers, Microsoft will also provide the winners with a $2,500 cash grant and a Microsoft technology bundle. – Rappler.com
