MANILA, Philippines — With every detail all but officially confirmed, LG finally took the wraps off its new flagship smartphone the LG G3 hours before simultaneous global launch events take place in London, New York, San Francisco, Seoul, Singapore and Istanbul on Wednesday, May 28.
The G3 is a 5.5-inch smartphone – the first to sport a Quad HD display with four times the resolution of HD, an impressive 538 pixels per inch. The device runs on a 2.5 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 801 processor with 2GB and 3GB of RAM variants and in 16 and 32GB models. The phone’s metallic looking back plate is actually still plastic and is removable housing a 3000mAh battery, a microSIM card slot and an microSD card slot for up to 128GB of optional expandable memory.

Unlike Samsung’s Galaxy S5 the G3 sports the same 13MP OIS camera (instead of adding more megapixels) but with a new technology called Laser Auto Focus that LG promises will recognize depth and help the camera focus faster than ever before. The smartphone’s front facing camera has a new wide angle camera and sensors that activate the shutter when a user clenches his or her fist.
“Simple Is The New Smart” was the guiding principle for designing the G3. The smartphone debuts LG’s new user interface that has been pared down drastically and feels flatter and less gimmicky. Knock Code – which is LG’s tap to lock/unlock feature that first appeared on the G Pro 2 makes it way to the G3 also.
The phone will be available in Metallic Black, Silk White, Shine Gold, Moon Violet, and Burgundy Red when it launches globally. The phone is available starting May 28th in South Korea. – Rappler.com
