EA’s Battlefield Hardline coming Fall 2014

MANILA, Philippines – Following a barrage of leaks from gaming forums on Tuesday, May 27, Electronic Arts (EA) officially announced the next title in its first-person shooter (FPS) video game franchise Battlefield.

The new game, Battlefield: Hardline, departs from the usual war in a foreign land backdrop and takes on the familiar cops versus robbers theme. According to Steve Papoutsis, VP and GM at Visceral Games, the studio responsible for the new title, the game stemmed from the idea to, “take Battlefield and action games in a new direction.”

While the game is debatedly one of the most important PC-based online multiplayers, fans are worried about the game’s readiness. The release of its predecessor Battlefield 4 in October 2013 was marred by numerous bugs and latency issues such as rubberbanding – a latency issue where it appears you’re moving forward but are then thrown back to a location you were earlier.

Battlefield Hardline is slated for a Fall 2014 release. A teaser website for the game is already available under battlefield.com/hardline.

EA has set the world premiere of the game for June 9th at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3). Full game details including the storyline, weapons, and multiplayer mechanics are promised to be shown. – Rappler.com
