MANILA, Philippines – Viber announced Thursday, September 11, that it has globally launched an update to its mobile and desktop-based messaging service, adding some long-requested features along with some quality-of-life enhancements.

The mobile update – Viber 5.0 – enables video calling on the Android and iOS versions of Viber, as well as on updated Windows and OS X versions of the app.

Viber 5.0 for mobile also includes easier sticker pack management and easier forwarding of photo messages on iOS, while the Android version is redesigned. Both iOS and Android versions will also acquire Quick Response (QR) code scanning capabilities to let users quickly pick up new contacts.

Viber 4.3 for desktops receives a new design, while Viber 3.2 for Windows 8 receives a new design, an updated snap mode with sticker, emoticons and notifications, an easier way search and view contacts, and .PNG filetype support for photo messages. – Rappler.com
